Just a bit of good drizzle again first lot but still warm and the horses were out without sheets. A good couple of canters up Warren Hill, trying to avoid the tractor, whose driver, I think, was showing off to the many spectators there are this July week.

A wet morning with the mist covering Newmarket

One runner today at Folkestone, Watch Chain, who runs in the sprint at 3.20 pm. He has run a bit in-and-out all year, always promising to run better than he does and completely sulked last time in the blinkers at Yarmouth. So your guess is as good as mine as to how he will run but I can tell you that he is in good form, looks a picture and will like the ground. Let us hope he can handle the undulations.

The tractor harrows the track, especially for the Flint Cottage string!

As you know it is July sales week and we several horses selling tomorrow. Iain, the travelling head lad, has been busy taking them up to the sales this morning and seeing them settled in, so that all the prospective buyers can then view them on site, Anybody can watch the sales and even bid online at Let us hope that they all find really nice new homes.

A good match to watch last night between Spain and Germany. I have taken great delight in giving Phil and Ian some stick that Fabrigas is only a substitute and is used mainly for carrying water bottles. It looks like Barcelona can hardly pay their players' wages this week, so the £30m transfer looks like being off but, at least, Arsenal have bought a Czech. centre back, which has kept them happy.
