Welcome to our new look website

Saturday, 10 July 2010

Welcome to our new look website and I hope you like it. We will be trying to constantly add to and improve it as the year goes on, so if anybody has any ideas just e-mail Neil. There could be a few teething problems and gremlins, as we are using a new software package but I am sure it will not take long to settle down. If you are using Internet Explorer 6 it would be better to update to Internet Explorer 8 but Google Chrome and Firefox seem to be working fine.

''Knowledge is a comfortable and necessary retreat and shelter for us in advanced age and, if we do not plant it while young, it will give us no shade when we grow old.''

Some of Ted Spread's and Barwick's owners out first lot

Another warm and very humid morning, following an even more muggy night. It feels like thunder should be near at hand but the forecasters tell us there is nothing until next week. Plenty of visitors again this morning, who have all enjoyed the sunshine and the craic. The horses have just been doing normal canters followed by a good wash down or swim.

                                                      More owners second lot

Yesterday's runners had no luck at all. Dazinsky had nowhere to go in a slowly run race, Astrodonna and Nicki had things happen much too quickly for them and Locum had no luck with the draw and could never get into it.
Today we have only one runner at Chester in the two mile handicap at 3.55 pm, she has got top weight of ten stone but the race should be run to suit her and I can see her running a big race today. She was a bit disappointing at Pontefract last time but Ashley got their a bit too soon on her and I can see a different type of race this time.

                                                                 Smokey Oakey and Akula

We had a reasonably successful sale yesterday when our horses went up to the July sales. Most of them found good homes and, I am sure, a few of them will win more races. One or two went abroad, as did quite a few from this sale.

                                                     Cornish Quest and Munro's Dragon

The final of the World Cup tomorrow night, Holland v's  Spain and this conclusion of a very good tournament should showcase the European game. The Dutch play with enthusiasm and drive and the Spanish just play cultured football (Phil has just commented, ''just like Arsenal!''). I think Spain will win and continue to be the world leaders for some considerable time.
