The adventures of the avid racegoer - Biscuit

''Among those people, whom I like or admire, I can find no common denominator but among those, whom I love, I can: all of them make me laugh.''

- W.H. Auden

Another very warm morning and no rain, once again, in East Anglia. Iain has already taken today's two runners to Yarmouth and has reported back that it is pretty fast ground; although they have been watering, the heat and the breeze from off the sea will continue to make it even faster ground. All the rain seems to be going up the west coast and, unless you have got entries at Carlisle and Ayr, we will just have to keep suffering fast ground.

Imjin River (Liam)

The three runners on Saturday ran as expected. It all happened much too quickly for Astrolibra and I would now hope that the handicapper could see sense and put us on a more realistic mark; she is still a novice, so going back to that sphere may be an option as well. Omokoroa loved the softer ground and ran well, just meeting an improver and Zenarinda ran with great credit in a race not run to suit (read more in-depth report on the syndicate page).

Astrodonna (Michelle)

Today, we have two runners at Yarmouth. Picarello runs in the 2.45 pm; he ran nicely first time and will run well again but I think much easier ground would help in the future. Watch Chain runs in the 3.45 pm, back over 6 furlongs and he is against his own age group today. He is a bit in-and- out but don't rule him out, as he has enough ability to win this, if in the right mood. Fasette does not run in the mile and a quarter race, as the ground is too firm for her.

Cornsh Quest (Michelle) and Fasette (Wajid) set off a the bottom of Long Hill

Congratulations to Louis Oosthuizen on his great win in the Open Championship. It just goes to show that you have got to be in it to win it and there is not much difference between the top three hundred players - just whether the ball drops in the hole or not. It will change his life overnight and very good luck to him.
