Toparichi (Darryll), Star Commander (Pat) and Barwick (Colin)

Thank goodness, at least, it is a bit cooler this morning and we had 3mm of rain overnight. It did come up really black and looked as if we were in for a real deluge but it did not last long and it has only dampened the dust, so the watered gallop was still in operation.

Colzium (Liam) and Old Boy Ted (Ashley)

I took a bunch of two year olds to Racecourse side first lot and met all the jockeys. It was a real mixture of some that had run once, some that had worked a few times and some that had never been there before, so it was a very interesting morning. It is great to see the horses learning the job and being taught by professional jockeys. There are several that will be seeing the track for the first time during August.

Battery Power (Liam) and Cat Island (Nicki)

Today we only have one runner, Ice Magic, as Imjin River has had to be withdrawn. He ran very well on his only run to-date at Leicester over a month ago but that was over 6 furlongs and today's 7 furlongs will suit him much better. He was only getting the idea late on and finished well, saying that, I think this looks a nice race tonightand I am sure plenty of winners will come out of it. We have booked the champion jockey, Ryan Moore and so are assured of a top-class ride and an experienced de-brief - let's hope it is in the unsaddling enclosure.

Darren consults his feed list to make sure each horse gets the right amount

What a weekend to look forward to with the King George and the reappearance of the Derby winner, Workforce, taking on his elders in this great race. Then, we have Glorious Goodwood to look forward to, the following week, which hopefully is where we can have several runners, just depending on the ground. It is always a great week with plenty of informative maidens, good Group races and climaxing with the mad dash of the Stewards Cup - I can't wait!
