It's Champions weekend ...

We are going to Lingfield today, are you?

"Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain."

Blue Bounty (Sinead)

It’s a really wet morning, in fact it started in the early hours and it looks like it is going to be like it all day long. We have been out galloping across the flat, which all went well. I took a mixed bunch of two and three-year-olds which have not done much, and in the driving rain, they all performed very well. The ground is becoming on the softer side but it quickly goes through the chalk here at Newmarket and you would call the ground on the gallops just good to soft.

Crystal Pearl (Darren) Peeps (Glenn)

We have one runner today at Lingfield. Topaling runs in the 4.40. She has had two runs to date and this looks another warm contest. She has been learning with both runs and she will improve again for this. It won’t be very nice at Lingfield today with the wet kickback and I am sure there will only be three men and a dog in attendance.

Comrade Bond (Simon) and My Guardian Angel (Tom)

There are some interesting articles today in the Racing Post. The one on Heath House Stables is absolutely marvellous. Any history of the racing industry always fascinates me. It looks like we are going to get a series of these articles on yards and I am sure they will be all worth reading.

The piece of the surface in Dubai is also interesting and it looks to me like the Tapeta didn’t stand up to the heat, which can get up to 50 degrees out there. I would think the wax and the oils all melted, as the colour of the track changed from when it was originally put down. Going back to the desert sand will certainly stop the colour changing and we will all have to wait and see how it rides once it has settled in and they get used to working it.

Star Commander who is looking for a new home

We still have a horse wanting a good home; please email the office at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you are interested. He can be ridden just outside Newmarket and is a cracking horse who just wants a good home. He is capable of doing any other sphere outside of racing.
