Horse welfare is paramount ...

The end of an era

"Finish each day before you begin the next, and interpose a solid wall of sleep

between the two."

Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Nancy (Tom) and Topaling (Sophie)

It’s a bright sunny morning with just a slight breeze. It’s forecast to stay mainly dry today with the chance of an odd shower and that’s how it’s going to be for the rest of the week.  It’s been a normal Monday morning for the horses, using the Warren Hill polytrack and all has gone smoothly so far.

Humphry Repton (Emilie)

The Irish Derby was run on Saturday at the Curragh, with Australia coming home the victor. Aidan O’Brien had a good day, also finishing second and third in the race. It was an impressive performance but it’s just a pity they didn’t get more runners. He is obviously a very nice horse and it will be interesting to see where they go with him next.

Astromajor (Tom) and Comrade Bond (Joe) off to exercise

It’s the last day of the lease at Garrowby today, so I am making one last mad dash up to Yorkshire to finalise everything. It is definitely an end of an era.
