The Tour de France is coming to town

"Sadness flies on the wings of the morning and out of the heart of darkness comes the light."

Jean Giraudoux.

It’s another perfect morning, beautiful blue sky and just a slight breeze to keep the temperature down. On a day like this there is no better place to be than watching the horses canter by on the various gallops. We had to change our plans slightly at exercise this morning, what with a broken down tractor on one gallop and unfortunately, an injured horse on another, but for us everything went smoothly.

Hold Firm back from the races

Hold Firm behaved himself much better at Epsom last night. He was better in the stalls, and kept with the pack until he got a bit tired and rolled around on the firm ground. It was like his first race yesterday, and there will be another massive improvement next time out.

It is a fantastic weekend of sport, with the Tour de France being the highlight. This year it is starting in England, and we are lucky that it is coming near to Newmarket, just down the road at Cambridge, on Monday. Everybody is hoping for some rain, especially the people who have runners in the Eclipse on Saturday, but just enough to make it fair to everybody. It would do all the courses good to get half and inch or so.
