The three wise men!''Who is the most sensible person? The one who finds what is to their own advantage in all that happens to them.'' - Johann von Goethe
Brushing (Nicki), Astrovenus (Holly) and Astrodonna (Michelle)A really fresh morning and a nice breeze and we have got rid of that mugginess that has been hanging around for so long. I think we had a little shower last night but it was well past my bedtime. At least the heath is starting to get back a bit of its greenness - I just hope we can have some proper rain, so we can start using the grass gallops again. Everything has had two good, healthy canters on the all-weathers and look in great form.
Barwick pulls out second lotTheola was a bit disappointing yesterday at Goodwood. The only reason we can think of, is she may have been in season and we will be having a blood taken off her this morning to check. Sometimes these fillies give you no indication that they are in season other than a poor run - let's hope this was the case in this instance. If it was the reason, we can then keep a check on the dates and be sure not to run her when we have doubts. You can put these filies on to medication to help but I have never been a great advocate of this. We saw a marvellous performance yesterday by Canford Cliffs and, I am sure, he will attract plenty of interest from the stallion men but it would be good if we could keep him in England - what about The National Stud? |
