They gave a good performance

"I have always thought the actions of men the best interpreters of their thoughts."

John Locke.

Bracken Brae (Reece)

It’s another overcast morning and coat weather, certainly at first and second lot anyway. It may get warmer as the day goes along, let’s hope so. We have had a real mixture of exercise this morning, with horses going off mainly round Side Hill, where some have been walking and trotting around the tracks and some have been doing a gentle canter on Warren Hill. Just a normal busy morning.

Astrodiamond (Yazmine)

Both our runners ran with credit yesterday. Crystal Pearl was travelling very well before she got struck into behind, which got her unbalanced and Ted was easy on her to the finish. It always amazes me how jockeys don’t know where they are going. When horses get struck into behind it can be career ending, as I know to my cost on many occasions. I think this time it is only just two inches of skin being scraped off and the tendon not cut into, but it will be a few days yet before the bruising all goes and we can make a proper assessment.

Blue Bounty was unlucky again to meet a big improver but his time will surely come. The trip was ideal and he may even be capable over a stiff 6f on soft ground.

Swilken (Ali)

I see Channel 4 are hoping to put more races on their mid week coverage and expand their programme time. Now the cynical side of me asks the question, why? as there are plenty of old films on and Countdown, which always seems to take preference. I wonder if it is because the advertising revenue is going down a bit and that the bookmakers, who are desperate to advertise, will pay a bigger price.
