Toptempo runs today

"Let me embrace thee, sour adversity, for wise men say it is the wisest course."

William Shakespeare.

Topamichi (Ali)

After a wet Sunday it is still very damp and misty this morning, although it's not cold as there is no wind. I don't know where all the frosts have gone as we have only had one this winter so far. I always think that a week of good frost kills all the bugs and that is just what is needed at this time. First lot have been down the Town Sand and then on to Bury Hills. I will also be starting to canter the two year olds that have now recovered from the infection they all had.

We have one runner at Wolverhampton this afternoon. Toptempo runs in the 2 mile handicap at 10 past 3. We have put her back up in trip today after her reasonably good run at Newmarket. It is the first time for her on the tapeta surface but she seems to handle the polytrack well so there is no reason to doubt that she will go on this. It looks a pretty competitive race but I am sure she will run with credit.

It makes fascinating reading on page 15 of today's Post concerning the prize money at last weekend's Cheltenham three day meeting. They compare the differences between 2004 and 2014. You can see from the figures that only two or three races have increased in value and the rest have certainly gone down. This decreasing prize money must be addressed and must be the number one priority for the new BHA board as soon as possible.
