Plenty of rain last night

Ted Spread (Colin) pulls out first lot

''Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. It's not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; it's when you had everything to do and you've done it.''

Marvo (Liam) and Mystery Star (Ashley)

Plenty of rain last night and everybody who went to watch Westlife at Newmarket got soaked, if they ever got there at all, as the traffic through Newmarket was unbelievably bad. It was taking people an hour to get from the Clocktower to the course. On these big nights, that are sold out, the racecourse and town must get together to sort out the traffic problems. If there is one thing that puts people off going racing, it is the traffic management and parking on days similar to this.

Heading off Long Hill for a pick of grass

I could not be more pleased with everything at present, the horses look marvellous, are moving really well, eating well and the staff are in good spirits. We have done our normal weekend exercise of a good canter on the grass, followed by a pick of grass.

Toparichi picks grass, whilst Omokoroa takes in all the activity

We have no runners this weekend but will be having several runners early next week and it is the Ebor meeting at York where, hopefully, we will be having a few runners. I was singing Glorious Goodwood's praises last month but the proper meeting is this one, try and beg or steal a day off from work to go. Every day there is a highlight and, to cap it all, Phil and I will be having our tipping competition, so get ready to phone your bookmaker!

Smokey Oakey (Iain) leads second lot up Long Hill grass

Sheffield Wednesday are away at Colchester today and I have been very kindly invited by one of my owners, Peter Sakal, to his box to watch. I can't wait to get there and watch The Owls hammer The U's! Our free transfer and loan players will all be on show. I will report back on Monday.
Phil tells me he is very confident of Arsenal beating Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday but I am not too sure and I am giving him some stick about their manager, who has not yet signed his new contract. Does he fancy taking over the French team?
