A mild Bank Holiday

My Guardian Angel leading Swilken

It's a mild but quite cloudy morning today. At least it looks as if it will be a dry Bank Holiday for everyone. We have been cantering on Hamilton Hill and so far all is well even though we have some non runner staff. The horses look great and very relaxed.

The Derby picture was muddled even more at the weekend with the last trial being run in Ireland. The Coolmore pecking order is still very undecided but at least they have the best miler we have seen for a while in Gleneagles. His race showed the brilliance of Ryan Moore who didn't panic at any stage and managed to weave his way through to win going away.

Peeps and Bracken Brae

Cirrus des Aigles, my and all of France's favourite racehorse, was very disappointing yesterday at Longchamps. It turns out that he broke a shoe clean in two and, as his trainer said, she normally doesn't like to make excuses but this was a clear cut case. Let's hope his foot is not badly damaged and we can see him back to his old form soon.
