American Pharaoh, what a horse

It’s an overcast morning with just the odd bit of blue sky poking through, however it is a bit chilly and you need to wear a jumper just to keep a bit of warmth in. This afternoon is set to be sunny and a bit warmer. We have been cantering on Hamilton Hill this morning and all has gone well so far. The horses all look in tremendous form, really healthy and well.

We have got two runners today, both at Lingfield tonight. Swilken runs in the 7.05, the 6f seller. We have fitted him with a hood and cheekpieces in the hope that this will make him put his best foot forward. He is well in at the weights and if he can be persuaded to concentrate, he must run well. Our next runner in the 7.35, the 2m handicap is Topaling. This is the first time she will be trying this trip, but has always given me the impression that it will suit. She is a real character at home and only does what she fancies, but is very consistent on the track and after being unlucky last time, she hopefully can get herself back into winning ways today.

Astrowolf coming up Hamilton Hill

I failed to mention yesterday the marvellous achievements of American Pharaoh. He won the Belmont Stakes on Saturday and with it the Triple Crown and therefore becoming the 12th horse in history doing the treble. It is some achievement and all congratulations go to the connections. It is interesting to see Coolmore had bought the breeding rights from the owner before this last win. What a fantastic outfit they are, always ahead of the game and I am sure he will be very popular at stud, if you can ever send a mare to him.
