First lot pulls out in the fillies' yard

''What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it.
  When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever; in it's place is something that you have left behind...
  let it be something good.''

Dulcie (Nicki)

A very still, sunny morning and the temperature is once again perfect; it is days like this that make training racehorses such a delight. First lot have just had a gentle canter and a good relaxing pick of grass. I am going to do a bit more with the next couple of lots taking, them to Railway Land.

Astrolibra listens attentively to Liam's 'sweet nothings' as she enjoys the lush grass

All week the Racing Post has been running articles on the food and drink that is available on all the British racecourses, which makes very interesting reading, as the good ones have shone through and I hope it can jolt a few of the others into making improvements. Places like York and Chester are very good and Pontefract and Ripon, who have the same caterers are also not far behind. It is a very good route for the Racing Post to take and hopefully the course will take note. It would be great if they could do a similar thing on the owners' facilities, as they are the people, who supply the actors for people to go and watch and, in my opinion, these facilities are always the poor relation, again with a few exceptions.

It is the yearling sale season and they have already had sales at Deauville and Doncaster; we have now got Fairyhouse, Goffs and Newmarket to come during September and October. These are the sales that, historically, I have been very successful at and, in the present economic climate, I think they present an opportunity to buy quality horses at the right price. We can look at the prize money situation and all that it entails but there is still a fantastic chance of owning a good horse and all the excitement and fun it can give everybody connected with it. I will be attending all the sales and would be delighted to act on anybody's behalf. Just contact the office to talk to me further.
