Sylvestre de Sousa is doing so well ...

A misty start, but now it a glorious day

"A loyal friend laughs at your jokes when they’re not so good, and sympathizes with your problems when they’re not so bad."

Arnold H. Glasgow.

The sun coming up and breaking through the trees

It's a perfect autumn morning once again after what can only be described as a fantastic crimson moon last night. I got up at 3.20 to watch the eclipse and it was a wonder to see. It won’t happen again until 2033 and there are some great photos today in the papers. I did actually try and take a photo of it, but failed miserably and I think I should have had different settings on the camera. There was plenty of mist about at first lot, but that soon burnt off and it has been a glorious morning ever since. We have been cantering on Southfields round and the Rubbing House polytrack.

A misty start to the day, and below the mist has clear and now it's beautiful

Our runners over the weekend have not been too bad, with a couple of seconds which were slightly unlucky. Both Hold Firm and Bracken Brae were beaten a head and a neck respectively. Of our others, Peeps needs further, Topaling will be fitter for the race, Jack Carter will be acquiring some head gear very quickly and so will Singing Hinnie, who I am still a bit baffled about.

There’s a big article today on the battle for the TV rights, which will be coming up for renewal in 2017. You have got Channel 4, BBC, ITV, Channel 5 and Sky Sports all in the running and this time we need to get it right as we don’t want the viewing figures to plummet as they have done since Channel 4 have had the sole rights. If it were me I would give the BBC the rights to the Derby, The Grand National and Royal Ascot and get the viewing figures back up to what they were, and let the rest fight over the others. The other alternative is ITV, who are doing a great job of the Rugby World Cup. It is interesting to note that all the pundits are ex-players or managers who know what they are talking about. It makes for much better watching and there is not all this gambling nonsense spoken, in fact to my mind ITV would be the preferred option for everything.
