Brushing (Nicki)

''While there is a chance of the world getting through it's troubles, I hold that a reasonable man has to behave as though he were sure of it. If at the end, your cheerfulness is not justified, at any rate, you will have been cheerful.''

A breezy morning and no rain yet but all the weather forecasters are telling us it is going to be a wet week - we will just have to wait and see if they are correct. We have already had two lots up Long Hill Polytrack and I have only erupted once, so that can't be a bad Monday morning!

Captain Clint in paddock at Fontwell yesterday

An exciting week coming up for Flint Cottage Stables with the St. Leger festival starting on Wednesday. It starts with 'The Ec.' on Wednesday, where he rides Kinsya in the charity race. There is still time to sponsor him  by going to I saw Dale Gibson at York yesterday, who, by the way, is also riding in the race and will be carrying a lot of lead, as he was one of the lightest jockeys in the weighing room and they are all set to carry 11 st. 7 lbs. He has been the chief organiser, along with Jack Berry and they are hoping to raise £100,000, which will be used to build a house, similar to the Oaksey one in Lambourn, in Malton, Yorkshire, so if anyone can spare a few pounds it will be greatly appreciated. On Thursday, we may run Brushing in the Park Hill but I would be hoping for not too much rain for her. The week at Doncaster culminates with the St. Leger on Saturday, where Ted Spread is entered and, if it pours with rain, we would be hopeful of a top four finish. We will have several other runners during the week at various courses and let's hope it is a good week for everybody.

Astrolibra in the winners' enclosure, after finishing second yesterday

A bit of a disaster for The Owls yesterday but, hopefully, only a blip on the bigger picture, nevertheless after the last 2 matches, it was very disappointing.
