It is amazingly mild today. As I put the dog out last night I thought it was starting to get cold and the wind was blowing strongly, but on stepping out first thing, I was hit by a mild breeze and it has continued in that vein all morning. It must be the lull before the storm. A couple of jockeys were in this morning, which helps with working the horses and we have got on quite well despite a couple of non-runners through illness and I don’t know what.

We have one runner today at Wolverhampton. Peeps runs in the first race at 4.10 and Josh Quinn rides. She ran well last time and in this sort of race must be competitive. We are drawn well, maybe too well, but I expect her to put up a good show and hopefully she can now improve and win a few races.

There’s some very sad news this morning that Pat Eddery has died at the age of 63. He was champion jockey 11 times and won 14 British Classics. He and Lester Piggott had some great battles and what an era of jockeys it was with Joe Mercer, Jimmy Linley, Scobie Breasley etc. Our condolences go to all his family.
