The horse are very fresh

"A bargain is something you can’t use at a price you can’t resist."

Franklin P. Jones.

It's another very damp morning and we must have had plenty of rain overnight as there is a lot of water lying at the bottom of Hamilton Road this morning. We've had two good lots out so far with plenty of cantering on both Hamilton Hill and Southfields Round. In fact the horses were mad fresh with no coughers and I'm hoping we are on the right track once again. I will know for sure this morning when the blood tests on the runners this week come through.

As I said a few days ago, Yarmouth Racecourse will not be open until at least June, and the BHA have arranged six replacement fixtures in April and May. Lingfield Park and Chelmsford have five between them and let's hope Lingfield actually run on the turf, but I very much doubt it.  The other, unbelieveably, has gone to Bath. Considering these replacement fixtures were meant to be local to Yarmouth, this is crazy. Nothing ceases to amaze me in this day and age.

I see the Racing Foundation Charity, which was set up to distribute investment income from the miserly amount we receied for the Tote, was in the news today. I believe the article was slightly incorrect as the grants have increased year on year and there will be £1.92 million distributed to good racing causes this year. I just hope this money is being used wisely.
