The yearling Astroshadow out on the Heath

It's been another really wet night and there are still a few showers about this morning. I think the forecast is for it to be a dry day but very mild. We have been doing our normal cantering on Hamilton Hill where everything has gone according to plan.

and having a gentle hack

We have two non runners today, Blue Bounty and Topalong. The tests we took yesterday from Topaling showed that her blood was wrong. She will need  a week at least without being put under any pressure. Blue Bounty didn't eat up overnight and we shall give him a few days walking and trotting. This is very frustrating as they both had good chances.

Prayer Time

I have been busy clipping all the horses as in this very mild weather they have been coming back hot and sticky from exercise. Most of them are good when being clipped but there are one or two that need a bit of sedation so that I can do the tickley bits. The yearlings especially, who are having this done for the first time, must have a good experience as they will be clipped many times in their lifetime. The art of clipping lies in having sharp blades and confidence.
