It’s been a cold start once again, but at least it is bright, the sun is shining and there is no rain. We have had a very good morning, with the horses all cantering on racecourse side and, with a full complement of staff it has all gone like clockwork. A load of hay arrived first thing and where there is usually some moaning, it was all cheerfully unloaded today.

I did quite a few blood tests last night, on all the horses that are going to run in the near future and I am very pleased to tell you that they all came back ok, so we will be having several runners very soon. They will be mostly on the all-weather tracks, as the jumping turf tracks are still flooded with very heavy ground. It is a bit frustrating having the jumpers all ready and fit to run, but at least we have the all-weather track to keep them going and hopefully earning their keep.

Angie and I have been busy these past few days, visiting all manner of studs to have a look at the stallions we are hoping to use this season. It is fascinating to see all the different places and how they are all run. We have seen some outstanding horses in the last few days and we will be formulating our plans this weekend.
