Consistent Peeps deserves a win

The shamrocks that grow

And may troubles avoid you

Wherever you go."

It was a misty start but has gradually cleared up and is now a cracking spring morning. There is no wind so the temperature is holding up well, and the turf is starting to dry out. It will take a good week or so of this type of weather to sort out the ground because although it dries up on top it is still very wet underneath the surface. Quite a busy morning today both in the yard and on the stud as we have had one or two non runners. Both yards are pulling well together and it is much appreciated. The horses have been doing two canters on Hamilton Hill and everything has gone smoothly apart from one loose one which showed her well being but was caught quickly and reunited with her pilot.

Once again Peeps ran with great credit last night. She is such a consistent filly she must surely win one before long and richly deserves to.

The government confirmed their intention to bring in legislation to capture the offshore betting tax which should create a level playing field for both British based and offshore operators. There will now be plenty of discussion between all parties and it should come into force in the spring of 2017. Let's hope it does so and there is no European appeal.

I'm pleased to see Cheltenham are banning the people who organised the digraceful scenes at Cheltenham with footballers and so called celebrities flaunting themselves. This type of behaviour is out of place in our industry as it should be anywhere in the world and in any walk of life. Manners cost nothing but they make the man.

I took the lead yesterday in the competition ( see today's picks below ) thanks only to Sprinter Sacre who jumped fantastically and was right back to his imperious best. It's St Patrick's Day today so I'm sure there will be plenty of Guinness drunk.
