We have two runners today

It’s been a busy morning already with a few owners calling in to see their horse do some fast work. It’s another glorious day and there is nothing better on a day like this than to see horses galloping across the hallowed turf on the Newmarket heath. It means getting up early to get here on time, but it is very well worth it as you start to get the real atmosphere and see all the hard work that is put in behind the scenes. We have had two lots of gallopers this morning and the rest will be cantering on Hamilton Hill.

Owners Anne Marie, David and Clare watching work

We have two runners today, both fillies and both in maidens. Our first runner is Astrosecret at Lingfield in the mile and a half race at 1.30. She ran very green on her debut but that was over a month ago and she has come on for the run. This looks another competitive maiden with a lot of unknown quantities and some very well bred horses, but I am hopeful of a good run and the filly will improve again for today’s outing.

Our second runner is this evening at Ascot in the 6.30 over a mile and a quarter. Dot Green takes on a field full of high class and potentially anything fillies. Big prices have been paid for a lot of these and it will be fascinating to see how she runs tonight. Her two runs last year were full of promise. I think she will stay this trip well and I am hoping for a good run. Whatever happens she will be getting a mark after this contest.

Gates are opened ...

and Astroshadow and Sandwood Bay are out

We put several horses through the stalls yesterday including some two-year-olds for the first time and they all behaved very well. We did have one older horse with plenty of character and she will definitely need more education before we can run her. Most horses are not frightened of the gates but can get themselves wound up and need to gain full confidence and enjoy going through them.

It's now time for Time Down Under and Dixon to show how it's done

The Regal Galaxy partnership is beginning to fill up now, as it should do. She is a lovely filly, has been third in two maidens this year already and is well handicapped. She will stay a mile six, two miles eventually and worked very well this morning. It is a no brainer to get involved with her at very low cost and we have a few shares left to fill the partnership up. The facts are simple. If you get involved it will cost you £250 +VAT a month and you own a 12th share in the filly. You are given the share which is yours. If the filly is sold, you get a 12th of the revenue and a 12th of all prize money. There is nothing else to pay except the £250 +VAT a month which is why I say it is a great way to get involved and see if you like racehorse ownership. Please look at our website for further details and there is a video of me talking about the filly below.
