Speed is often confused with insight. When I start running before the rest, I appear faster.

Smokey Oakey under Ashley stretches out on the Peat Moss

One of the best mornings of the year would be how I would describe this morning. Everything was perfect, weather, ground, staff - I am just waiting for things to go wrong! The gallopers on the Peat Moss all went well and second lot on Long Hill moved like a dream.

Mystery Star (Maria) and Dulcie (Nicki)

Three runners today, two at Beverley and one at Folkestone. Starting at Beverley, I am running Miss Wendy quite quickly again in the 2.00 pm race but I can't see her reversing the form of the weekend with Always Dixie and the top one has been running off a mark of 92. This just goes to show that people are becoming desperate to win races and earn money with horses that have disappointed. Later on in the 5.00 pm, we run Izzet, who has had two runs so far, showing some promise but it looks like we may be up against it once again, having to meet horses that have cost £175,000!  At Folkestone, Astrovenus runs in the mile and 7 furlong race at 3.20 pm, where I think the trip will suit but she needs to put her best foot forward today. She has schooled well over hurdles and will not be long before running in that sphere.

Finger Spin (Dan) and Astrodiva (Wajid)

The vet is busy in the yard this morning with a few of the two year olds, having the castration operation. Once they have recovered, which doesn't seem to take too long, they will be having a break up at Garrowby. Everybody is still on a high after Theola's win on Saturday and she has taken it really well - let's hope we get some luck and she makes the cut for the Cesarewitch.
