We have one runner tonight at Ripon

Prayer Time and Careless Rapture

It’s an overcast day with the temperature set to increase as the day goes on and I think there is a threat of some rain towards evening. We have had a busy day with horses though the stalls, horses cantering and a runner tonight at Ripon. We have already had a bit of excitement with one of the stall handlers being carted off to hospital after being crushed against the side of the stalls. I will keep you informed as to his progress, but the one thing I can say is that there was an unbelievable response from the ambulance service with at least eight people attending the incident and they arrived very quickly. I think it is a case of bruised or broken ribs which should heal ok. The horses have been cantering on Hamilton Hill and so far so good.

We have one runner today. Tonight at Ripon Dot Green runs in the one mile two furlong fillies’ maiden. This looks a perfect opportunity for her to get off the mark and should be a stepping stone to better things.

I see there is a big debate about media rights and payment to racecourses today. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes that we don’t know about and the racecourses certainly receive the majority of the money. I am sure over the next few years these rights will increase and let’s hope we can get a big chunk of it going back into prize money. It is surely needed.
