They are not children ...

It's a very busy morning

"The only thing worth stealing is a kiss from a sleeping child."

Joe Houldsworth.

It’s a damp morning after a reasonable shower overnight and it’s another one of those hectic times when everything is going on. We had two fillies go through the stalls once again, mares to be moved about at the stud, cars to go in for MOT’s and the phone never stops and that’s all before we take a breath. Just a normal day of a racehorse trainer. We have got a full complement of staff in and they are all working very well. We have been using the assortment of polytracks on racecourse side.

Legging up on for second lot

Blue Bounty ran a sound race yesterday at Lingfield where he finished sixth. He will have just needed the race but once again showed a lot of speed and was only beaten three lengths. It may be we need to go to a stiff five like Beverley or Carlisle on the turf. He really is a consistent fun horse who always gives his owners some hope.

Sweeping Beauty

I see the BHA is now under even more pressure to give a full account of the Jim Best debacle, but they are saying they will give it only when the second hearing is completed. I think this may be the best way legally, but it should never have happened in the first place and it may mean that there should be a separate department for the disciplinary rules in future. There doesn’t seem to me to be any professional or clear thinking brains at the top of this department and it also may mean that new personnel should be drafted in. It just makes our ruling body look so unprofessional and third rate. These are very important issues they are dealing with, it is somebody’s livelihood and it must be fair to both parties and a completely independent panel giving judgement.
