"To exist is to change, to change is to mature, to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly."

It's just slightly warmer this morning and hopefully we shall have a few days of better weather. We have had a mixture of cantering using Southfields Round and Hamilton Hill polytrack, plus we spun a couple up the Rubbing House poly as well. I have also lunged a few fillies and given them a good pick of grass. We are testing one of our last mares at the stud this morning to see if she is in foal, so it's all happening today. I am happy to say that I have just heard that she is in foal.

We have one runner today, Prayer Time goes at Market Rasen in the 1.40 two mile novice hurdle. For a small field this is an interesting race and he will have it all on to get involved here today. He jumps well though, as you can see from the picture below when he was schooling, and another experience will do him the world of good.
It's the third Classic of the year at Epsom on the start of the two day festival. The Oaks should be Mindings for the taking but I wouldn't rule out Skiffle giving her a run for her money. It'll be interesting to see crowd numbers today on what is a great day's racing . There are sixteen runners declared for tomorrow's Derby and this looks one of the most wide open races for a long time. We have the fast improving Wings Of Desire and the much touted U.S.Army Ranger at the head of the market, but there are several others that could be anything and my two against the field are Harzand and Cloth Of Stars. If you have never been to the Derby it's an amazing experience and you should try to go.

Mares and foals sheltering at Dullingham

We had a visit this morning from the partnership involved in Indian Red and Lost the Moon along with their families. It always amazes me how the horses are so good with the young ones They can feed them polos and grass and run around and the horses never seem to bother. It's great for kids at this age to enjoy racing and love the horses. It could lead to them being owners of the future.
