It looks as though we shall have some dry days this week and it will certainly be warmer, thank goodness. We are having a normal cantering morning today. We have had to stay close to home on Hamilton Hill as the Rubbing House polytrack is being refurbished and that will take several days.

Smile That Smile ran a sound race to be third at Leicester on Saturday. I think the winner was very well handicapped but from our bad draw we couldn't have run any better. The blinkers certainly helped and I shall now be keeping them on her. The ground was the deciding factor at Sandown where Dot Green cruised into contention but once let down she floundered in the ground. A return to a sound surface will see her in a much better light.

Heavensfield runs today at Ripon in the mile and a half three year old handicap at 7.45. There are only six runners and it could turn into a tactical race. I wouldn't want any more rain either as the ground is already good to soft. Everybody will be fancying their chances in this race and it will all be down to who gets the tactics right.
