Cantering up Hamilton Hill in the sun

It’s a glorious morning and it looks like we are in for three or four days of constant sunshine, which is coming up from continental Europe. Who needs to go on holiday when you have weather like this? With all the rain we have had over the last few months, I am sure we are in for at least a month of good weather and faster ground. We have kept the horses close to home on Hamilton Hill this morning with two canters for most of them. We also put Desert River into the stalls with his blanket on and all went well, so we will be getting the stalls test organised this week.

Velvet Voice and Astrosecret

There’s some very interesting reading in the Racing Post this morning. In the Monday’s jury column they asked the question on how racing is covered on the TV. Three jockeys and a trainer agreed with Mark Johnston that the concentration on the betting was boring and that more fun needed to be put back into the presentation. The only one who didn’t agree was the Ladbrokes man who seemed to think that it needed to be front and centre. Let’s wait and see now what happens.

Stan and Barry visiting on Saturday

It looks like the BHA are expecting quite a few appeals and referrals to arbitration on the many cases that came within the jurisdiction of the solicitor employed by the BHA and who sat on all the cases as an independent person. I just wish this whole matter would get cleared up and move on. We have got to have a disciplinary panel that have teeth. This needs to be sorted out quickly and with personnel that have no skeletons in their closets. I am sure Nick Rust will be very keen to get this into place as soon as possible.
