We have one runner today at Brighton

Hold Firm leading Indian Red

It’s was a damp start to the morning and it has continued that way as the light has come up. I don’t think there is going to be a lot of rain though and the forecast is for it to get much warmer as the week progresses. In fact the forecasters tell us the temperature is set to sore by the end of the week. We have had a busy morning so far with the horsebox leaving early to go to Brighton and the horses going in and out to exercise. We have been using Southfields polytrack and all has gone well. Unfortunately, I did find one at the weekend with a snotty nose and it was quickly put on antibiotic powders as we don’t want another bout of anything in the yard. It is enough to drive anybody barmy, never mind a racehorse trainer.

Regal Galaxy and Thalissa

We have one runner today at Brighton where they have had a little bit of rain overnight. Permera runs in the 3.30, the mile and a half three-year-old handicap. She has performed reasonably well in all her races this year and I am hoping that she can get herself on the board today. There are one or two in here with reasonable recent form, but she has been moving well lately and let’s hope for a good run today.

Stellekaya and Astrosecret upsides

I see Channel 4 have not taken up the TV rights on this year’s Arc. This is very disappointing as it is always one of the most popular races of the year and although it is on the satellite channels, it would be much better on a terrestrial one. I would have thought this was a great chance for ITV who are taking over the franchise to have a trial run with a few of their presenters. Let’s hope even if they don’t grasp the nettle this year, they will certainly do so next.
