Nikki gives MHT the feedback on Dulcie's gallop

A very mild morning with a little breeze and the ground is beginning to dry out slowly. We took first lot across to Racecourse side, where they worked across the Flat, which was in absolutely perfect condition. It always amazes me, but it shouldn't, that 100 yds. away the ground on the racecourse is soft and we are galloping on good ground. I think it is down to the grass maintenance and the watering on the courses, as the watering causes the roots to grow sideways rather than downwards.

Omokoroa (Colin), Astrovenus (Zezhavz) and Edward Whymper (Wajid)

Both our runners ran with great credit yesterday. Astromagick, from a very bad draw, ran well to be fourth, showing that she has come on a lot from her first run and she will have benefited enormously from yesterday's experience. She will make up into a really nice three year old and will stay well. The ground at Windsor was bottomless and Star Commander got a bit bogged down in it when they started to quicken. He will be handicapped now and should win a race of that nature this year before developing into another cracking three year old.

Darren goes around making sure that all the horses have enough hay at the end of the morning

It is the start of two weeks of yearling sales at Newmarket today with October Book 1 until Friday. This is the premier sale of the year and it will be fascinating to see how it goes in this current climate. It is followed next week by October Books 2 & 3 , which start on Monday, 11th and go on until, Saturday, 16th. I think there are over 15oo yearlings over the two weeks, so there will be plenty of choice. I will be attending, along with Angie and working the sale as usual, so if anybody would like to invest in the future, please give us a ring to discuss things further. I think it is a great time to get involved at more realistic prices and, I am sure, there is great value to be had.
