Galloping Across The Flat

The weather has really changed this morning. There was a ground frost which lingered around for a while, a bright blue sky, and no wind. It’s a perfect autumn day. We have been galloping a few Across the Flat on the turf which will nearly be the last time we are on the turf gallops this year as they shut next week. Second and third lot have been on the polytracks. No problems so far.

(L-R) Lost The Moon, Bracken Brae and Sweeping Beauty

We have two runners tonight both at Kempton. Our first runner is at 5.25 where Velvet Voice makes her debut in the one mile fillies’ maiden. This looks a very warm affair but the experience will do her the power of good. I have got a long wait then from the 5.25 to the 8.25, so I hope somebody has got a pack of cards as we will need to amuse ourselves for several hours. Regal Galaxy is our other runner in the 8.25. She ran well a fortnight ago at Chelmsford to finish second. I have had to drop her back in trip tonight as there is little for her in the next few weeks, but we are drawn reasonably well and I am hoping she can produce similar form to last time, if so she should run well.

Mu helping out in the racing yard

Once again our best wishes are sent to Freddy Tylicki who is stable in hospital and awaiting more tests and assessments. We will have another update sometime today or tomorrow. I know this incident wasn’t similar to the Yarmouth debacle recently, but I see that Jockey Club racecourses, who own Kempton, are giving a £250 goodwill payment to all the owners of the horses that were in the four races abandoned, plus £50 each to the jockeys. I hope ARC are watching and hanging their heads in shame.
