Sweeping Beauty makes her debut

Tuesday, 08 November 2016

"Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it."

William Arthur Ward.

It's a bright but very cold morning and thank goodness there is little wind so at least the chill factor doesn't come into play. A full complement of staff was in this morning and we have been over on the Cambridge Road polytrack at first lot. They all came down in pairs and everything went smoothly.

Indian Red leading Gee Sixty Six

We have one runner today when Sweeping Beauty makes her debut in the 3.55 at Huntington in what is called a "Junior Bumper", which is a National Hunt flat race for three year olds. This is an ideal race for her as she was upset by another runner when in the stalls in May. We have given her plenty of time to settle down and this looked a perfect race for her. She has been going nicely and we have a good jockey aboard so I would expect a reasonable run from her today, but whatever happens she will learn considerably from it.

Hold Firm

We are going to have a major move at the stud this week with more yearlings coming into training and the weanlings will then move over to the yearling ground. We have already brought the mares back closer to the foaling unit and with Christmas less than two months away, it's amazing how it all comes round so quickly. Our first foals are due in January.

Is this the sign of a hard winter to come
