It's another very mild day

"Don’t put off your happy life."

Cantering with the stands in the distance

It’s an overcast and very mild morning once again but I think some rain is on the way later in the day. It is a shame it has gone mild as the good frosts we were having, although sometimes very cold to work in, was doing so much good killing the bugs. It’s been a normal morning with us using various artificial canters on the Rubbing House, Southfields Round and Hamilton Hill. We have plenty of staff in and amazingly we have got one or two queueing up to join us.

Topaling ran reasonably well and once we get her back over further I think she will be winning once again. Hold Firm gets very similar comments and Bracken Brae was drawn badly and ran well under the circumstances. They are all still very well and we just need the luck to go our way and the jockeys to get determined and have the will to win.

I see the new firm that beams pictures into the betting shops is starting to grow and pick up more racecourses. They are starting to cut out the intermediaries such as SIS and Turf TV who take money out of the industry. I just hope this new arrangement means more prize money rather than it going to the racecourses or the firm that is now running it. Once again it is the owners, who supply the actors and the actual horses to bet on, that will be missing out if this is not so.
