It is a very overcast morning with the wind from the east and, I think, it is going to stay like that for the rest of the day. The forecast is for it to clear up as the weekend goes on. Everything has gone smoothly this morning with the horses just in their normal routine.

Second lot collects in the indoor ride

Our horses yesterday both ran as expected. The ground was, in fact, a lot softer than York had forecast and the jockeys were reporting it was nearly on the heavy side, although the times of the races did not reflect that. Mystery Star ran well for a long way before getting bogged down in the ground but that is what I expected and, hopefully, the ground can dry up so he can show his true worth later on. It was a similar story with Cat Island, as the ground was too holding for her but she still ran respectably. She is now handicapped and sure to win races.

Two runners today at York, starting with Dulcie, who runs in the two mile two furlong handicap at 2.45 pm. She was a bit ring-rusty last time at Goodwood after a long break but is much straighter this time, although she has a lot of weight to carry on this sticky ground. Kathleen Frances  runs in the last, the mile and an half handicap, at 5.05pm. She is going for a four-timer today and cannot be out of it, if this is not one race too many this autumn.

Barwick (Ashley) and Colzium (Nikki)

The Owls are at home to Leyton Orient today and need to get another result,  if they are to keep in touch with the leaders. Phil and Ian are going to have  a very calm weekend, as it is the international break, where most of their players will be playing for all the foreign teams.
