Teamwork - Darren wraps one leg on Dictate to protect an old knock, while Ashley puts the boot on the other leg

Zeeshan gives Colin the leg up onto Old Boy Ted

A very dark and wet morning and it must have rained most of the night. I think the clocks go back either this weekend or next and that will help us in the mornings. Everything has just cantered up the Polytrack this morning and Steve and David have really started getting on with breaking the yearlings, so it won't be long before we have got them ridden away around the school.

Steve and David bring the Tiger Hill colt home after lungeing

Yesterday's runners didn't trouble the judge, unfortunately. It looks like Omokoroa, who travelled like the winner most of the way, just failed to stay the last furlong. The ground was fast enough for Astrodonna, who was not disgraced in fifth. Kinsya jumped well but I think that he needs to be held up right to the death and Astrolibra may just have had one run too many - a holiday is now on the cards for her.

The Iceman colt sets off plunging, when he feels the roller around him

Two runners today both at Newbury. Ted Spread runs in the 2.40 pm, The St. Simon Stakes Group 3 and I hope it has rained as much as possible, as it will certainly help his cause. He still looks very well but today will tell us a lot more about him. Astrodiva runs in the last at 5.25 pm and I am hopeful of a good run today, as she ran well on her re-appearance a fortnight ago.

Still plunging but he settles down after a circuit or two

I must comment on the article in the Racing Post today about the purchase by the BHA chairman's company, Newsmith, of £5m. worth of Betfair shares. They had applied for £40m. worth but, if the paper is to be believed, they secured £5m. As chairman and co-founder of the company, I find it unbelievable that the 'leader of racing' can be associated with this investment and I am sure that every professional involved in racing will feel the same way.

A more orderly lunge without the roller

The Owls are at home to Bournemouth today and Arsenal are away to Man. City on Sunday, so a lot of excitement to look forward to today! If only Wayne Rooney was an Owls player, one month's wages would get us out of debt! I put yesterday's saga down to pure greed and my comments yesterday about home-grown players still stands, I don't know where all this will end.
