Welcome back Di

"May you have warm words on a cool evening, a full moon on a dark night , and a smooth road all the way to your door."

Irish Toast.

Sandwood Bay

It's a overcast morning but the temperature is nearly back to normal for the time of year and it looks like staying that way for the rest of the week now. We have been cantering on the turf on Southfields, which was perfect after the rain, and on the polytracks close to home. All has gone well.

Dot Green

We have one runner today at Nottingham when Clearance runs in the 2.50 the mile and a quarter maiden. He didn't know what he was doing the first time he ran and Lingfield's uphill and down dale contours unbalanced him. Today's track will be completely different and I'm sure we should see a bit better show from him today. He is a big horse who has taken time to come to hand and is still learning.

The second part of the Brexit Report is in the Racing Post today. After reading the article, it looks to me that especially the Irish and the French will be trying their best to keep the trade between the countries open and free. It would be completely barmy and in fact disastrous for the Irish if tariffs were imposed, but at this stage nobody knows what is going to happen and personally I don't think we shall see much difference.

We had a lovely surprise this morning as Di appeared in the office for a couple of hours. She should not really be anywhere near the place yet but it is great to know that she is well enough to come in at all. She has certainly been through the mill and is still not right, but she is her usual cheery self and is an example to everyone by showing such dedication to her job. Thank you Di.
