Cantering on the Rubbing House Polytrack

It’s a warm morning with very little wind and the temperature is perfect for working in. It is likely to stay this way for a least a day or so but then some rain is forecast from the middle of the week onwards. We have had a good morning so far with the horses doing a good canter on the Rubbing House polytrack and then hacking back down the woodchip on Southfields. Plenty of people are in which is always a help.

We have one runner today. Astrostorm runs this evening at Wolverhampton, the one mile six furlong handicap at 6.10. He has not had a lot of racing and we are looking for some improvement today after his first try in a handicap on the turf at Nottingham last time out.

Three horses of ours went through the sales on Friday, all finding new homes. All in all it was a very strong July Sales once again. The turnover was boosted by a big draft from Godolphin and several of the other bigger outfits were off loading both racehorses and breeding stock. There was a very broad list of buyers, from plenty of overseas countries and it just shows that, without doubt, we have the best and most sought after horses in the world.
