Saint Anthony yesterday on Hamilton Hill

.. and walking back home

It’s an overcast morning with a very slight breeze and it is forecast to stay like it all day. We have been cantering on the polytracks on Southfields this morning, a good mile canter, followed by a good long walk back. All has gone well. We have got one or two staff vacancies once again, so please read our job board on the website.

Astrostorm wasn’t disgraced last night. He was never quite in the right position but stayed on well to the finish. It looks like two miles will suit him and he will certainly jump hurdles in time.

Our runner today is at Beverley where Dot Green runs in the 4.15, the 7 ½ furlong handicap. We are dropping her back in trip and will see if it works. It is a tricky course and we will have to get lucky with how the race develops, but the hill should suit and let’s hope she can get us back on the right road.

Hold Firm

The Racing Post has another front page headline of horses being deliberately stopped. Once again it is against a smaller trainer / jockey / owner, with very little information to go on. We have not been told yet how much each individual is supposed to have won, and the case is continuing, but why do we have to have this constant talking down of racing, with the whip, the apprentice jockey exploitation and now this against small players in our industry. The Racing Post should be singing racings praises, not constantly talking it down.
