Another chilly and dull start

''A politician thinks of the next election; a statesman thinks of the next generation.''

- James Freeman Clarke

The time may be upon us to find a statesman!

Imjin River and Number One Guy

Another chilly and dull start to the day but soon warming up and bright sunshine by mid-morning. The horses had a nice, healthy exercise with most of them having two canters up the Warren Hill Polytrack.

Forgotten Army and Watch Chain

MHT has headed off early this morning to Chester, in an effort to beat the traffic and reports that it is pouring down there. Ted Spread has always given the impression that he would enjoy some cut in the ground, so, hopefully, he will not be inconvenienced by the softening going and it may not suit one or two of the others. The horse has been working nicely this spring, should get the trip well and everyone at Flint Cottage is hoping that he will run a good race. More than anything, it will give the trainer an idea , as to where he stands and enable him to make plans for the rest of the year.

Bertie Smalls and Theola

We all have our civic duty to perform today and need to get down to the polling station to put the appropriate cross on the ballot paper. It will be interesting to see what happens but with the problems that face the country, one can only feel that some degree of certainty for the future is needed and, that a hung parliament must be a bad thing with some difficult decisions to be made.

Angie is in good form this morning, as she is a Spurs fan, so by winning last night they have qualified for the Champions' League next season. I am not totally sure that this is a good thing, as it could make the political situation in the office, even more complicated!
