Hamilton Hill this morning

It’s not a bad start to the day, dry, blue sky, a sharp wind, and it does feel very cold. It’s forecast to be like this for the rest of the day with the temperatures dropping overnight and the chance of frost. Something to look forward to tomorrow. We have one non-runner again today, but everybody is working hard and the horses are getting a good canter out on Hamilton Hill.

Roof Garden

Our runner yesterday didn’t perform too badly. She jumped well from the stalls and raced in the second half of the field, but couldn’t improve in the final part of the race. It may be that this came a bit too soon after her last run, but she will be handicapped now and I will wait until next week when we get her mark before I decide her next step.

Plane flying over Newmarket

With the recent bad weather around the country, race meetings have been hit hard. There are another two meetings abandoned today due to laying snow and frost and ice on already heavy ground. Thank goodness for the all-weather meetings as without them there would be no English racing to watch and the punters would then have to find something else to bet on. The clerk of the courses have their work cut out at the moment, but hopefully with the forecast set to improve, jump racing can get back on track, if not with soft or even heavy ground to contend with.
