Kinsya leads the yearlings up Warren Hill

"A horse doesn't care how much you know until he knows how much you care."

The Piccolo ex Sosumi filly (Holly)

Much milder this morning, in fact, it is positively balmy with no wind and hardly a cloud in the sky. General good cantering exercise up Long Hill polytrack with first lot and then a mixture of lots with yearlings all being led by older horses. The young ones are really getting the idea now, have settled into the daily routine well and are physically starting to progress: just how you want them to do at this time of year.

The Araafa ex Angels Guard You colt (Dan)

Akula runs today at Cheltenham in the 12.10 pm race. David, my travelling lad, phoned me at 7.45 am to let me know that the ground was very raceable and safe - he called the ground good-to-soft. Akula went down yesterday afternoon and had a good night, eating up everything given to him. There are one or two smart animals in this race today but Akula is no mug and we have not seen the best of him by a long way; he is only just starting to mature and furnish and he has improved with every hurdle race. I think he was a bit unlucky last time to be beaten and he should be an each-way price today.

On the Rocks (Wajid)

A good weekend of football with The Owls at home to Bristol Rovers; they have got to get a result today to keep the pressure on. But the big match is on Monday when Manchester United play Arsenal at Old Trafford. Phil and Ian are already on tenderhooks and I am predicting a score line of 3-0
