Marvo gives the yearlings a lead out of the indoor ride

A foggy, misty morning and combined with the darkness, it was pretty tricky first lot on the Heath but everybody now wears the luminous jackets and so, at least, crossing the roads was safe. It is always one of my worries, especially on these dark mornings as, sometimes, some strings are hard to see. All the yearlings are doing one nice canter and progressing as we want them.

Holly on Lady Bellatrix updating MHT on how she is going

Akula ran a tremendous race at Cheltenham on Saturday to finish third to the favourite for the Triumph Hurdle in March. He was a bit keen early and didn't jump as well as I know he can do but showed himself to be a high class recruit and there is a lot of fun to be had with him from now on. I am delighted and give full credit to the Cheltenham ground staff that we were able to race on Saturday, as it looks like we are in for another cold snap. Unfortunately, they had to cancel the big meeting at Huntingdon yesterday.

Iain set off at the crack of dawn to go to Garrowby today to bring back four more horses-in-training. They have had a good break and the ones we got back last week all look pictures and have already started their fitness routine. He will be going back there later this week to collect the three maiden mares, who have been relaxing and winding down from their racing careers. They will now come back to Dullingham where David and the team will get them settled in and do all the veterinary works required before covering starts in mid-February.

Kathleen Frances's yearling half sister by Motivator

We had a good mention in the Racing Post on Sunday in the 'Surf and Turf' section and a big thank you goes to the editor, Robin Gibson, who does a great job in keeping everybody informed of the racing industry's websites. His theme on Sunday was 'Christmas content' and the lack of it on all racing sites. I know we mentioned the Racing Welfare carol concert on Saturday but we will be making a more determined effort to bring some Christmas cheer to our site in the next couple of weeks. I don't think we would dress up in Santa costumes but I may get John Berry to ride out in red wellies!

Zeeshan on the Act One ex Torcross colt

A great result for The Owls on Saturday, 6-2, and we are now in the promotion positions - I just hope we can keep it up. Phil and Ian are very nervous this morning about tonight's match at Old Trafford. Phil couldn't wait to get the Racing Post this morning to see what odds a win for Arsenal would pay. I think 3-to-1 was the best but I think it should be more like 33-to-1 - we will see.
