A very hard frost overnight...

Toptempo (Ashley)

A very hard frost overnight and everywhere is white all over. It is amazing how quickly the temperature dropped last night and with that poacher's moon the frost quickly settled on the ground. First lot this morning was a bit on the slippery side but the Heath staff had been out sanding and salting and the walking grounds are safe enough now, as second lot went out to have a canter.

Third lot heads home after cantering

We have a runner today at Kempton, Koraleva Tectona, in the 5.30 pm race. She is a big, strong filly, who has won three races for Pat Eddery but was a bit disappointing in only three runs last season and it will be a learning curve with her today. She has done well physically since we have had her in the yard and has started to learn to settle in her work but we will know a bit more about her trip and track, etc. by 5.45 this afternoon.

Angie and I were very kindly given tickets to see War Horse last night in London,  which we can highly recommend to anybody ( It is the story of one horse and horses, in general, in the First World War and it really shows the barbarism of war at that time. Of a million horses that went to war only 62,000 returned. The horse, when used against machine guns and barbed wire, didn't mix - a few hankies may be needed as well.
