A bit damp this morning.....

A bit damp this morning after some overnight rain and the forecast is a bit similar for the whole weekend. It will not be as bad as next week, when they are forecasting another cold spell with very low temperatures. We have been getting the horses out well this morning and using Warren Hill grass, which is riding just on the soft side. Plenty of horses about again today with the trainers from Racecourse Side using the hills, as they don't have them on their side. I am delighted with the way the horses are looking and we have had a really good week with them.

The mares continue to hang on, especially Mega, who is so big that she will burst soon if she doesn't have it tonight. We have got one that has gone a full year and a few days and still isn't showing much; you really never stop learning in the horse business and experience is everything. Let's hope I can bring you news of, at least, one new arrival by Monday. The foals we have already are doing well, as the pictures show you and they are developing fast.

Good sport this weekend with the Arsenal fans in the office hoping for their first bit of silverware for five years - good luck to them but they have a few of their key players out. The Owls are away at Carlisle who, historically, have a good record against us. England play France at rugby, which will decide the championship and the Grand Slam. The racing today has a couple of meetings with inspections which, at the time of writing, are still on but being monitored. The big race is at Kempton, The Racing Post Chase, which will be a real slug in the ground. I hope they get a bumper crowd (see yesterday's comments).
