An overcast day but no rain and it is still on the warmish side. We have had another busy morning with horses swimming, cantering and the vet has been in to castrate a couple. So, as you can imagine, along with all the other normal decisions being made in the office on a daily basis, it has been quite hectic.

We have been hitting the post and the crossbar on a regular basis and yesterday was no exception with two seconds and three thirds. At least, the horses are running well and the one who was a bit naughty and colty last night at Yarmouth , Like Clockwork, has already had his tackle removed by the vet this morning!
We have got one runner today, Battery Power, this evening at Sandown in the 9.00 pm race, the mile and six handicap. She has been running well this year and last time at Newmarket, she looked like she wanted this trip; also, there are a couple of front runners in this tonight which should suit. I hope it is not as dark as last night at 9.00 pm, as it was a job to see the runners, although I am sure anybody watching on TV would have thought the sun was out. I can assure you it was pitch black, cold, windy and not the time to be running horse races. Yarmouth had a Tom Jones tribute band and a Ladies Night, which developed into a bunfight and these racecourses that put nights on like this want to sort out their facilities better.

A good article on page 12 of the Racing Post by Julian Muscat, which should be read and his final paragraph where he states, "racing desperately needs an authority in which all its participitants have confidence. Sadly that is not how it stands today" is so right and is what I have been banging on about for ages.
