It's Champions weekend ...

A very warm night....

“Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.”

After a very warm night, where the temperature didn't drop below 15 degrees, we have got another muggy morning; although as I speak, it has started to rain and it looks like we are in for a good shower. I have had a mixture of horses either working on the Al Bahathri or cantering on Warren Hill. Plenty of visitors also with people popping in throughout the morning. Everything has gone well so far.

Brushing (Nikki) and Star Commander (Rhea)

Unfortunately, both our runners today at Catterick have had a problem. Locum, uncharacteristically, has left some feed, which may have been for a number of reasons: having his teeth done or the very warm weather are possibles. Comrade Bond moved a shoe, after being plated; hopefully, we can get him right for later in the week with plenty of poulticing and tubbing in salt water. These little things drive a trainer barmy, as they both had good chances of earning money.

Arena Leisure, who run quite a few tracks, published their results yesterday and it was great to see their bank borrowings down with a £7 million advance from a media rights' payment from SIS!! Who do they think supplies the horses for people to watch? There is also talk of SIS buying the group and if this happens these courses will go the same way as the bookmaking-owned greyhound tracks.
