A coolish day but, once again, very nice to work in and we have been cantering on the Bury Side of Newmarket all morning. The horses are really looking well at present and I think the new processes that I have brought into play during the last month or so are really starting to pay dividends. The whole yard is working together well  and we are anticipating a good run to the end of the year.

Both horses ran really well last night with Star Commander, deservedly, getting his head in front. He has been very consistent this year and is quite lazy, so I think there is more improvement to come. Lady Bellatrix delighted us with her run to be second and showed her first run was best forgotten, as she didn't handle the track at Epsom at all. It looks like our two year olds this year are a nice bunch as they have all shown ability at home and will improve throughout this year and next.

It is the first day of the Ebor meeting with the highlight being the Juddmonte International with Midday and Twice Over, as our flag bearers. The Great Voltigeur, the St Leger trial, brings back memories of Bob's Return winning it before going on to win the Leger. This is a great start to the week.
We will be having runners there tomorrow and on Saturday but I have unfortunately been balloted out of a race on Friday. I think one of the main things to watch today is where the jockeys come and where the best ground is. Sometimes they play follow my leader and it will be fascinating to see what happens.
