Rather overcast again and still quite a strong breeze but incredibly mild. The horses have been doing good canters on Warren and Long Hill canters and we have had another busy morning with owners coming to see their horses. As I mentioned yesterday, I am always delighted when owners come to see their horses, as it is much easier for me to show them how their horses are going and progressing than trying to explain it over the telephone.

I have made several entries next week and I am planning to start off with a couple at Folkestone on Tuesday, so I shall keep my fingers crossed that they run well and we can get the ball rolling again.

It is the St. Leger this afternoon, which looks a fascinating contest with several improving horses taking on the classy filly, Blue Bunting. Her form is undoubtedly the best in the race and she has a fair amount of stamina in her pedigree but she has had a long season, so my vote goes to Sea Moon. He is a progressive sort, who won the Great Voltigeur well but, critically, he has a pedigree laden with stamina: being by Beat Hollow, who is a stallion that I love, out of an Alleged mare, Eva Luna. This 1 mile, 6 furlongs and 132 yards takes some getting at Doncaster and I feel that Sea Moon's proven ability, allied to the fact that this trip should bring out further improvement in him, will tip the scales in his favour. I would prefer it if Michael Stoute's yard were in better form but you can't have everything.
