Damp with a bit of drizzle....

Walking down Long Hill before having a second canter back up Warren Hill

A damp morning but we have only had a bit of drizzle and it doesn't look like we are going to get any proper rain. We have been quite busy cantering horses on the Bury side of town today and they all look very well, although one or two, understandably, are beginning to get their winter coats. I was telling David, who is in charge of all the clipping, to make sure his blades are sharp and that he has all the paraphernalia needed to get started next week.

I see the jockeys have made the front page of the Racing Post again this morning but not for the whip, although three of them did get banned yesterday but for not knowing what a yellow flag meant. This still happened, despite the signs in the weighing room, stating that when the yellow flag is waved you must pull up. Grand Prix drivers can do this and understand all the different coloured flags perfectly and they are going about twenty times as quick as these jockeys were. This sort of publicity keeps the likes of Frankel and the Champions Day off the pages of the newspapers, which should be shouting about it from the roof tops. The amount of time and money that has been put into the build-up to this day is being lost very quickly with this week's happenings.
