201008Caroline gives Dan a leg-up onto Akula

A clear blue sky at first light and we have had the first ground frost of the autumn; it is actually a lovely morning with very little wind . We have been cantering on Warren Hill and things are ticking over well.

We are now sorting out the horses that are going up to Garrowby for a holiday, the ones that are going to continue running on the all-weather, the National Hunt horses, the new yearlings and the ones we are finding good homes for. I found a very good home yesterday for three horses with a girl, who used to work for us a few years ago and her boyfriend. They have got a very good place to turn them away and then make them into polo ponies, if they are amenable to that discipline. It always pleases me when we can find homes such as these, as the 'Where are they now' section on our site bears testament.

201024MHT gives Lauren and Charles their orders on Shomberg and Eanans Bay

Both our runners yesterday ran okay, in what were very hot maidens, at Newmarket. Like Clockwork will now get a handicap mark and will stay well next year. Phantom Ranch, having his first run, behaved impeccably and understandably got tired but stayed on well with all the characteristics of the family. He may have another run, even on the all-weather but is another that will make up into a very nice, staying three year old.
